Cotton is a soft, single-celled fiber that grows from the epidermis of the seeds of the cotton plant (Gossypium). These fibers are spun into threads and used to make soft, breathable textiles. The cotton fiber is twined together with a rayon fiber and then woven into a high-quality piece of canvas. The sides can be painted, cotton is stapled on the back. Three layers of high-quality gesso have been applied, resulting in an immediately paintable medium-fine structure.
